Leopoldo Sanmiguel
Leopoldo Sanmiguel, born in Tijuana, is an accomplished expedition leader and founder of Baja Adventures. With a degree in industrial engineering from CETYS, he combines technical expertise with a deep passion for exploring the Baja Peninsula’s diverse landscapes. Since founding Baja Adventures in 2015, Leopoldo has focused on creating sustainable tourism experiences that connect people to the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Leopoldo is a certified guide with over 20 years of experience exploring Baja’s rugged terrains. His skills include leading overland expeditions, kayaking (trained by NOLS), and emergency response in remote areas. He has also contributed to conservation efforts through projects like KM1 and the Nakawe Project, as well as collaborating on tourism board productions that highlight Mexico’s environmental treasures.
Dedicated to preserving Baja’s ecosystems and rancher traditions, Leopoldo integrates history, adventure, and logistics into unforgettable experiences. As a Leave No Trace instructor, he ensures all expeditions minimize environmental impact while fostering a deeper connection with nature.

Regina Domingo
Regi Domingo, originally from Spain, is a wildlife expedition leader and conservationist based in Baja California Sur since 2015. She is the founder and executive director of the Nakawe Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation and ecosystem protection. As the director of Baja Adventures, Regi has over a decade of experience creating ecotourism adventures focused on wildlife encounters and sustainable practices.
Regi’s work spans multiple countries, including Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and Europe, where she has led conservation projects and regenerative tourism initiatives. With more than 3,000 dives logged, she is a skilled free-diver and dive instructor, contributing to documentaries like Sharkwater Extinction and FIN. Her involvement in international policy projects, such as CoP17 and CoP19 CITES, helps protect endangered species like silky, thresher, and mako sharks. Regi is a vital leader in regenerative tourism and marine conservation, dedicated to preserving Baja California’s natural beauty.

Jorge Lombera
A lifelong resident of Juncalito, Loreto, Jorge Lombera has spent over 40 years mastering the waters of Loreto & sorroundings. At age 14, he began his maritime career, working on local fishing boats and developing an intimate understanding of the Gulf of California ecosystems. Today, as Baja Adventures’ official captain, he leads expeditions aboard La Puma, combining his degree in Fisheries Engineering with decades of hands-on experience to ensure safe, wildlife-conscious navigation.
Trained in approaching marine wildlife and cetacean monitoring, Jorge prioritizes ethical interactions with species like mobula rays, dolphins, and whales. His expertise in Loreto Bay National Park’s marine habitats ensures guests witness its wonders while respecting conservation guidelines.

Che Martinez
El Che, a true son of the Sierra de la Giganta in Baja California Sur, embodies the rugged spirit of this majestic region. Born and raised amidst its dramatic peaks and valleys, he possesses an unmatched understanding of agriculture, ranching, and horseback riding. His expertise includes the area's diverse vegetation, including medicinal plants, and a deep knowledge of the land's seasons, water sources, and wildlife.
El Che has dedicated his life to preserving and sharing the Sierra's cultural heritage. After years as a fisherman, he devoted himself to the sierras, contributing to tourism projects and documentaries like La Recua and El Corazón Vaquero. As an expert in long riding expeditions, he guides visitors through canyons and trails, sharing stories of rancher traditions.
El Che owns a family ranch where he raises goats and cultivates vegetables, living in harmony with the land. His love for coffee and storytelling adds warmth to his interactions, making every experience unforgettable. With his profound connection to the Sierra de la Giganta, El Che is an authentic "Californio," embodying the spirit of Baja California Sur.
